Convention on the Rights of the Child,   opened for signature 20 November 1989, 1577 UNTS 3 (entered into force 2 September 1990) art 22.
  • Treaty titles are italicised and capitalised in line with rule 8.1

  • Date opened for signature — this is the date of adoption/conclusion if the treaty is adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. For bilateral/trilateral treaties, use 'signed and entered into force date' where the dates are the same (rule 8.3)
  • Treaty series information includes volume number, treaty series abbreviation, and commencing page number. See rule 8.4 for formatting examples including the preferred order for treaty series, ie:
    • United Nations Treaty Series ('UNTS') or League of Nations Treaty Series ('LNTS')
    • a state party's official treaty series, eg Australian Treaty Series ('ATS') or Australian Treaties Not Yet in Force ('ATNIF')
    • other international or regional treaty series
    • International Legal Materials ('ILM') or other sources
  • Date of entry into force — replace with '(not yet in force)' for treaties that have not yet entered into force (rule 8.3.3)
  • Pinpoints are generally to treaty articles, paragraphs or sections (rule 8.7).
