  • Date of publication — full date preceded by online, enclosed by parentheses 
  • Generally no pinpoint reference unless the article has numbered pages or paragraphs
  • URL — enclosed by point brackets in line with 4.4–4.5.

Stephanie Peatling, 'Female Chief Justice Rewrites the Script', The Age (Melbourne, 31 January 2017) 6.
  • Newspaper title — full title including 'The' where it appears in the masthead
  • Include the section name before the newspaper title if the article is published in a named section and the newspaper is not consecutively paginated, eg Legal Affairs
  • Place of publication is generally the city where the newspaper's headquarters is located.
