Journal Finder: UniSQ Read & Publish Agreements Dashboard

Also known as transformative agreements, Read & Publish Agreements are a key strategy adopted by the Council of Australasian University Librarians (CAUL) in moving Australian research towards Open Access. UniSQ Library is a participant in a number of the agreements providing UniSQ authors the opportunity to publish open access without Article Processing Charges (APCs) which are waived under the Read & Publish Agreements.

Journal Finder: UniSQ Read & Publish Agreements Dashboard

UniSQ staff and research students can utilise the Journal Finder: UniSQ Read & Publish Agreements dashboard [UniSQ login required] to assist in their search for potential titles from CAUL Read & Publish lists to publish their manuscripts.

  • The dashboard is a subset of the full CAUL journal lists and focuses only on those titles in which UniSQ is a participating institution.
  • Draws data from 3 sources - the CAUL Read & Publish title list, SciMago's SJR quartile rankings, and the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) ratings.
  • Assists UniSQ staff and students to find eligible titles under UniSQ's participation in the various R&P Agreements, while simultaneously seeing the journal's SciMago ranking or the ABDC rating.

Please note that publisher instructions for a journal's manuscript submission process must be followed and the editorial review process for reviewing, accepting or rejecting manuscripts is unchanged by these Read & Publish Agreements.

A video tutorial on using the Journal Finder: UniSQ Read & Publish Agreements dashboard is available below.

The full list of CAUL Read & Publish Agreements, including Agreements in which UniSQ is not a participating institution, can be found on the Council of Australian University Librarians guide.

How to use the CAUL guide for the full list of Read & Publish Agreements

Accessing the CAUL guide provides authors with up-to-date information on which journals are available for open access publishing through these agreements. A video tutorial is available below but here are the key tips for using the full list of CAUL Read & Publish Agreements:

  1. First, go to the CAUL guide and access the alphabetical title list for all journals. Look for the journal title in this list.
  2. Note the publisher for that journal.
  3. Go to the tab for the publisher and look at the participating institutions. Is the UniSQ or the institution you are seeking listed?
  4. Note if the journal is not part of an agreement, the publisher may have a discount on Article Processing Charges.
  5. Determine if the agreement is capped and if so, check the cap usage table which will indicate whether the cap has been reached.
  6. Check out the types of articles that are covered by the agreement.
  7. Look at the Information for Authors section. This covers licensing of your work and the submission processes you need to follow.
  8. Note the details about using institutional email and institutional affiliation.
  9. Understand that the publisher's editorial process for reviewing, accepting or rejecting manuscripts is unchanged by these agreements.
