Using the Compare module

  1. Go to Scopus from the Library databases page. Create an account with your UniSQ email. Then click SciVal in the top right corner.
  2. Once logged in, click on Compare > All metrics from the main menu at the top right. This module allows you to compare research performance across various entities such as institutions, countries, or researchers.
  3. Use the icons at the left of screen to choose the entities you want to compare. For example, you might choose  Australian Universities and University of Southern Queensland from the Institutions tab (building icon), and choose Australia and the World from the Countries tab (flag icon), and then add yourself or others in the Researchers and Groups tab (person icon)
  4. To add yourself as an entity, use the Create/Import link at the bottom of the Researches and Groups tab. Click on Define a new Researcher, and Search for your record by name. Put a check mark next to your record, and validate the publications, then click the Save Researcher button.
  5. Choose the metrics you wish to compare. Switch from Chart to Table in the main panel. Then use the Manage Multiple Metrics link to add your chosen metrics.
  6. Common metrics: Scholarly Output, Citation Count, Citations per Publication, Field-Weighted Citation Impact, Output in Top 10% Citation Percentiles (field-weighted), Output in Top 10% Citation Percentiles (field-weighted, %), Publications in Top 25% Journal Percentiles by CiteScore Percentile (%), Academic-Corporate Collaboration (%), International Collaboration (%), Number of Citing Countries
  7. Choose your time period from the top left - eg 2020-2025
  8. Choose to compare across All subject areas, or narrow by a particular subject or FOR code from the dropdown at the top of the screen
  9. Your metric will be displayed in a table, you can export this table by choosing Export at the top right, and choosing the second option "Export data aggregated for the active year range (XLSX)"
