Form the team

Depending on which type of review you choose to do, you will need to form a team.  A full Systematic Review requires a team with assigned roles. There may be one person who leads the coordination of the Systematic Review but there should be two or more independent reviewers to reduce the risk of bias in study selection and critical appraisal. Other people to consider consulting with might be:

  • a subject-specialist librarian with specialised database skills eg Health Librarian for advice on searching databases such as PubMed
  • a research librarian for guidance on the development of an effective search strategy and managing the data associated with undertaking any type of systematic review
  • a statistician, particularly if a meta-analysis is a consideration.
