A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a unique and permanent link assigned to a digital resource, such as a journal article, a book, or book chapter, that will direct you to the correct source. Using DOIs where they are available, in your references helps to ensure that the sources you have cited in your work are reliable and easy to find.
In APA 7 referencing:
A DOI string should go at the end of your reference. For example, Gatz, M., Smyer, M. A., & DiGilio, D. A. (2016). Psychology’s contribution to the well-being of older Americans. American Psychologist, 71(4), 257–267. https://doi.org/10.1037/a0040251
