Why use books?

Books are a great place to start finding information for assignments. They are useful for building a general understanding of your topic.

Find books

Try the following steps in Library Search to find print and online books:

1. Search the Library using keywords.

2. Go to Refine my results and select Books.

3. Also select Available Online if you would like see online books only.

4. Select Apply Filters.

5. Check the results for relevancy.

 Tips: Keywords are words or concepts from your assignment question or topic. Refine my results can be found on the left hand side of the results page or via the filter icon on mobile.

Dictionaries and Encyclopedias

Find dictionaries and encyclopedias

Use dictionaries to find definitions and thesauri to helps locate similar terms.

To find encyclopedias in your subject area:

1. Search the Library using keywords, for example 'communication'

2. Go to Refine my results and select Reference Entries

The UniSQ Library First Nations Resources Collection shares First Nations authored books, films and media. 

Find First Nations authored books, co-authored books and resources on activism, global First Nations and the Torres Strait Islands.

All collections are searchable and include filters for date, title and relevance. 

First Nations people should be aware the collection may contain images, voices, or names of people who have died.
